Eli Wing
Eli Wing is a drummer, percussionist, songwriter and educator. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he has been living in The Netherlands for 11 Years (Utrecht for 7) with his wife Loes and 7-year-old son Ivo. Eli has his Bachelor’s in Music Education from both The Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College and The Royal Conservatory of Den Haag.
Eli enjoys listening to and creating music which surprises him and doesn’t take itself too seriously. A deep lover of music, he feels no resistance to any particular genre or style, but rather seeks out sincerity in expression and has an allergic reaction to pretension.
At Onderbuik, Eli composes and records his own music and teaches workshops in Rhythm With Signs, a specialized improvisational method developed by Argentinian composer and percussionist Santiago Vasquez. Additionally, Eli is the internal communications director of Onderbuik, making sure that the community is informed of the goings on of its members and facilitating business meetings, as well as the events programmer for the BUI-Straat. Eli also works as a staff member and music teacher at Democratic School De Ruimte in Soest.
