LØU (20+) is a german-american singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer based in Utrecht, Netherlands. where cinematic dream pop meets energetic electronics.
LØU crafts songs that delve deep into the complexities of making sense of the world we live in, while also embracing her own journey of queer identity and female empowerment.. Through that she presents her most honest and unfiltered self with a hunch of ironic self-criticism.
On stage LØU invites you into her unique immersive audio-visual world, melting the borders between a 3D Visual Show and Live Music Performance.
October 2023 LØU released their first single, ”NO HIT WONDER’’ a sonic story about self doubt, imposter syndrome and finding sarcasm in these self destructive thoughts.
In March 2024, she released their second single, "BENKO GAMBIT" which smoothly blends a contagious electronic groove with organic melodies. The seductive and intriguing lyrics narrate a tale of an endless game with one's inner demons, inviting listeners to embrace the darkness and dance with it rather than run from it.
This year marks the Debut release of her EP ,,something in between’’ with the first single ,,BREATHING’’ dropping 30th of May.
At the age of 17 Marie-Lou (aka LØU) founded a feminist electronic music collective called ZENA Moving primarily in the european club scene culture. This movement came from an overall frustration due to a lack of support from the male dominated music scene and is now carried by the love to help FLINTA ( female, lesbian, intersexual, non-binary, trans and agender) artists grow by giving them a stage to perform on and letting their stories be told. ZENA does so by hosting and curating its own events at clubs and venues all over europe. They also own a bi-monthly podcast series where new Artists are introduced with recorded Sets and Interviews
LØU aka Marie-Lou continues this social activism into her solo work by speaking up about injustice, complicated emotions and by simply setting an example to other independent queer female artists out there that their stories should be told and need to be heard.
